About Jaap van den Beukel

About Jaap van den Beukel

Driven by an unbounded curiosity about people, Van den Beukel follows residents in their everyday lives and in the places they call home. His long-term projects include City Me, featuring cityscapes across Europe; Our Grid, portraying young people on IJburg; My North, centred on Tuindorp Nieuwendam; Polanen, Houtrijkers and Other Neighbours, focusing on residents of the Spaarndammerbuurt; and his latest series on IJplein.

The exhibition also presents excerpts from About That Love, The Late Life and My North. Through intimate personal stories, these documentaries explore broader themes of vulnerability, resilience and human connection. Together, the works reveal how individual lives are shaped by their surroundings and the times in which they unfold.
